How to Unlock the HZN-VI Rocket in Forza Horizon 6
The Truth About the HZN-VI Rocket
To clear things up right away: the HZN-VI Rocket cannot be unlocked as a drivable vehicle. You won’t find it in the Autoshow, Car Mastery trees, Barn Finds, or any reward garage.
Instead, it is one of the 26 photography spots required to complete your Collector’s Journal progression. The game encourages you to explore Japan’s world map and document iconic landmarks, and the rocket is one of the more memorable ones.
Where to Find the HZN-VI Rocket
The HZN-VI Rocket is located at the Irokawa Space Centre, which sits at the far southern edge of the map. If you’re driving around the open world and wondering why you haven’t stumbled across it yet, that’s likely why—it’s tucked all the way at the bottom boundary of the playable area.
Once you arrive, you’ll immediately notice the massive rocket structure standing out against the surroundings. It’s hard to miss once you’re in the right place.
How to Complete the Photography Spot
Unlocking this “objective” is simple and doesn’t require any special upgrades or missions:
- Drive to the Irokawa Space Centre.
- Position your car so the HZN-VI Rocket is clearly in frame.
- Open Photo Mode.
- Take a picture with the rocket visible.
Once the photo is registered, the game will automatically mark it as completed in your Discover Japan Journal. From there, you can move on to the next landmark.

Common Confusion: Is It a Hidden Car?
The confusion mostly comes from how Forza Horizon traditionally hides cars in the world. Players are used to Barn Finds, secret unlocks, and progression-based vehicles, so when something looks unique like the HZN-VI Rocket, it’s easy to assume it might be tied to a reward car.
But in this case, the rocket is purely a landmark tied to exploration progression—not a reward vehicle.
If You’re Actually Looking for Hidden Cars
If your goal is to unlock secret or rare vehicles in Forza Horizon 6, the rocket won’t help with that. Instead, you’ll want to focus on these systems:
Car Mastery Trees
Some vehicles aren’t available in the Autoshow and must be unlocked through skill progression. You start with a base car and invest skill points to unlock hidden variants or “sibling” models.
Barn Finds and Treasure Cars
Across the Japan map, there are multiple hidden vehicles waiting to be discovered in free roam. Barn Finds unlock progressively as you level up and progress through the game, while Treasure Cars reward exploration in specific areas.
These systems are where the real hidden car hunting happens, not landmark photography spots like the HZN-VI Rocket.
The HZN-VI Rocket is less about unlocking something for your garage and more about exploring the world of Forza Horizon 6. Once you know where it is at the Irokawa Space Centre, it’s a quick and straightforward photo challenge.
