What Is the Assessor Matrix & Why Do You Need It?

First, it's important to understand the purpose of the Assessor Matrix. This is not a weapon, attachment, or consumable-it's a key crafting material exclusively used to complete the High-Gain Antenna project, one of the most rewarding post-Flashpoint updates in Arc Raiders.

The High-Gain Antenna project has three stages, and the Assessor Matrix is required for the final two. You'll need 6 Assessor Matrix to complete Stage 2 (Data Logger) and a whopping 18 to finish Stage 3 (Parabolic Dish). Without this resource, you'll be unable to unlock valuable rewards like the Bobcat III SMG, Vita Spray, and Photoelectric Cloak.

Visually, the Assessor Matrix is a small collectible item that automatically goes into your stash once looted. This means you don't have to worry about carrying it or losing it if you die-making it easier to farm without constant fear of losing progress.

It's also worth noting that the Assessor Matrix is a one-time use item. Once you donate it to the High-Gain Antenna project, it's consumed, so you'll need to farm enough to complete both stages of the project.

Step 1: Wait for the Close Scrutiny Map Condition

The Assessor Matrix can only be obtained during the Close Scrutiny map condition-this is non-negotiable. This dynamic map state is not active permanently, so you'll need to check the in-game destination screen or community tools to know when it's available.

Close Scrutiny can spawn on any exterior map (such as Dam Battlegrounds, Buried City, or Spaceport) but never on Stella Montis. It's marked by increased ARC enemy spawns, reduced overall ground loot, and open doors across the map-making navigation easier but combat more dangerous.

When Close Scrutiny is active, ARC Assessors-large, three-legged structures that drop from the sky-begin spawning a few minutes into the match. These structures are the only source of the Assessor Matrix, so you'll need to prioritize them once the condition is live.

If you're short on time, you can quickly join and leave matches until you find one with Close Scrutiny active. Use a light loadout (no unnecessary gear) to speed up this process and avoid wasting resources on matches that don't have the condition you need.

Step 2: Locate ARC Assessors

ARC Assessors are easy to spot once you know what to look for. They project tall, bright red beams of light into the sky that are visible from across the map-even through the map's fog of war.

You'll also see a marker for each Assessor on your in-game map, so tracking them down is straightforward. Multiple Assessors can spawn at once-players have reported up to three active simultaneously on larger maps like Buried City.

Assessors tend to spawn near map edges or open areas, away from dense structures. They move slowly once landed, so you have time to approach carefully without rushing into an ambush.

Keep in mind that other players will also be hunting Assessors for the matrix, so be cautious when approaching. If you're in a PvP-focused lobby, you may need to fight other raiders for access to the structure.

Step 3: Loot the Assessor Safely

Looting an Assessor is not as simple as walking up and interacting with it-you'll need to navigate its defenses and follow a specific process to get the matrix.

Each Assessor has three conical containers arranged around its base. Only one container has an extended platform at a time-this is the one you can breach to loot the matrix. Wait for the platform to rotate to a container, then climb up to access it.

As soon as you breach the container, hostile ARC units will spawn to defend it. Expect Vaporizers (flying laser enemies), Rocketeers, and Wasps-all of which can quickly overwhelm you if you're unprepared.

Bring Smoke Grenades or a Photoelectric Cloak to escape after looting. These tools will help you avoid enemy fire and slip away once you've collected the matrix. Lure Grenades are also useful for distracting ARC units while you breach the container.

Each breached container can drop 1 to 2 Assessor Matrix, so you may need to loot multiple Assessors to get enough for the High-Gain Antenna project. You might also get lucky and find the Do Labra shotgun blueprint in some containers-a nice bonus for your efforts.

Equip a mid-range weapon (like an assault rifle or precision rifle) to handle spawning ARC enemies. Bring plenty of healing items and shields to recover from damage, as Vaporizers can deal massive laser damage if you're caught in the open.

Use a backpack with a safe pocket to ensure you don't lose the matrix if you die unexpectedly. The Looting Mk. 1 augment (if you have it) will speed up looting time, letting you breach containers faster and move on to the next Assessor.
